Kristin's Grammy Recap

First off some business... Congrats to by blogger friend Nicole, her sister had her baby over this past week and he is adorable.. Good for the whole family, you guys are all growing so fast.

Now on to my Grammy Review

I am a child of pop culture so it shouldn't surprise many of you faithful readers that about midway through watching the Grammy's I was inspired for a blog post.  So I decided it was time for you all to delve a little into the mind if Kristin when it comes pop.... are here we go, lets start at the beginning

Note 1: I plan to sorta glaze over the portion of the show where they gave out award as that is what the producers actually did on the show... Clearly Adele was going to win every single award because she is amazing (and I am not a bandwagoner, I actually own her other album and I have for years 19 (her other album) is also outstanding)

Note 2: I am legally dependent on my DVR, and I actually watched the show Monday morning. I took out all the commercials and other silly portions and it took half the time. If you watched it live with all the commercials... don't be a sucker next time.

Springsteen--- is he still relevant? I respect the fact that he is a American icon, but like Abraham Lincoln he did a lot of really good stuff a long time ago but to be honest Abe take a seat.

Also in this category of people who attempted to sing on national television last night:
  • Beach Boys--- a very awkward moment overall, am I the only one who thought they were kinda reminiscent of animatronics from Disney World.
  • Rihanna -- I believe she is really hard worker, and I believe she is a really good dancer but she really brings truth to the old adage, "pretty people really have it easy" because lets be honest, she can't sing. She can't sing at all, she can dance around the stage repeating the same line over and over but none of this can cover the fact that she can't sing. To be honest I felt bad for Coldplay because they were spectacular just like they always are.
  • Paul McCarthy-- we get it, you were a Beatle and now everybody loves you. Now shouldn't you be in NYC this week supporting your daughter Stella at Fashion Week because she is amazing.
  • Tony Bennett/Carri Underwood --- I feel bad about this but it wasn't a highlight (your dress was pretty Carri)

Whitney Houston was kinda the predominant theme of the evening. So I can't really not acknowledge it. I am not a mean person per say but I do know this. She was a really great artist many years ago, this has got to be incredibly difficult for her family, but the truth of the matter is this (and I hope for her sake I wrong) but drugs kill... so don't do them.

Bruno Mars--- That guy is the shiz-nit and he killed it. If you are not on the Bruno Mars train. What is stopping you, jump on already... TOOT TOOT
Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson --- the bedazzled microphone looked pretty sweet Kelly. Poor Jason Aldean I have seen him live several times and he is normally way better then that.
Foo Fighters and Coldplay-- as always you are amazing. You make T-shirts on old dudes look cool, keep doing what you do.
Katy Perry---Good for you and your blue hair and hair crimper. I am sad to say but I have a soft spot for her music.
Adele--- Your awesome, that is why they gave you all those awards.
Glen Campbell--- I got no beef with you, good luck man.
Jennifer Hudson --- She has some pipes on her. I didn't really much care for her dress thought, but whateves she managed to get through that song without messing up her mascara so props to her.

In the category of people I am not particularly concerned about
  • Alisha Keys/Bonnie Riatt--- how did they end up together on stage? Is there a possibility the producers were inspired by Food TV Chopped when they partnered people up
  • Chris Brown --- good ol' VA boy, but I still don't really care about him or his music. Plus his background dancers look like Snookie-style squirrel monkeys.
  • Maroon 5--- I am not sure they could have looked any more awkward or uncomfortable then they did playing with the Beach Boys... yet another time when I stand by my Chopped reference
  • Taylor Swift--- usually a fan (don't judge me, you likely are too... it is like J. Biebs if everybody wasn't a secret fan they wouldn't be famous) but for the Grammy's she kinda looked like a hobo when she performed and I can't endorse that. Come on Taylor I know you got the bucks put on a nice dress.
  • The Band Perry--- Are you aware that one of your members has a 70's style mullet?... just saying
  • Dead Maus --- Maybe I am too old, but I just don't get it.
  • Nikki Minaj --- I really don't understand this one at all... the outfit, the pope, the whole thing was overdone, take some pointers from Beyonce, sing well, dance well, don't make yourself look silly.

11-11-11

So my friend Nicole challenged some of her blogger friends to complete a questionaire. Since I am constantly suffering from bloggers-block I decided to go ahead and fill it out. I have 11 Fun Facts, answered 11 Questions, posted 11 Questions for my other friends, and I tagged what should have been 11, but I don't have that many blogger friends yet.

Here you go enjoy!
