Cats/Dogs that look like __________?

Well my last post was pretty intense, so I figured with my next post I would really mix it up and do something a lot more chipper/perky and just generally up my alley. Sadly I had a wicked form of blogger's block. I have spend that last several days trying to come up with something great, something truly spectacular to follow up with (and while I believe I have another couple good blogs in me) nothing really jumped out at me as THE ONE.

But then while having a conversation with my darling husband (who is my inspiration) for this post my blogger's block was lifted. To give you the full effect let me take you back... Picture it Rockingham County 2012 I was sitting on the sofa.... (Please take a second to appreciate the Golden Girls reference.)

Patrick and I are discussing another fine young fairly pet obsessed gentleman that he works with, let call him The Doode. You see The Doode has this habit of posting pictures of his weird cats with clever captions on his Facebook. Unfortunately The Doode has not been posting pictures lately and I asked what had happened to cause this Facebook tragedy. (The next words that came out of my husband's mouth stunned me... so please prepare yourself)

Patrick: "The Doode has been too busy to post pictures on Facebook, he has been chasing this cat around to take a picture of because it looks like Hilter and he wants to post it on their site."
Kristin: !?!?!?!?!? WHA-WHAT????

Consider my mind blown, so I decided that this deserved some exploration. I had to see this, and in this process of the investigation I turn to my most trusted source for discovery of new things ...Google: these were my results

It turns out there is a site called Cats That Look Like Hitler, and it was funny, but that is just the beginning, you see this fateful Google seach lead me to no doubt the 2 greatest web sites ever created and they are:

CATS THAT LOOK LIKE RON SWANSON

and

DOGS THAT LOOK LIKE TOM HAVERFORD

If you watch Parks and Rec (and if we are friends you likely do) you will appreciate this post and these sites, the Ron Swanson site literally brought me to tears) The cats are referred to as Roncats, I am sure Ron would not appreciate that at all, but he has learned to tolerate many things with the 2 Tammy's and all.

The Doode--- keep doing your good work, find that cat and post his pic, but if you can find me a Roncat that would be great too. Godspeed

Please Help Us Save Lives!!!

Today I am blogging for a cause. This year the RHH (Team RHH&CO) have decided to team up and participate in Relay for Life. When we started talking about who would would be walking for so many of us knew so many others that had been touched by cancer over their lives. I am no different.

We all have our stories about how cancer has changed us, these are mine:
Mom with Chloe
I come from a family that has been marred by cancer for a long time. I was just a kid when my mother and father sat my sister and I down and told us mom had thyroid cancer and that there would be a lot of changes happening. I don't know how long they had known about the cancer but soon after my mother was going to be having surgery to have her entire thyroid removed. I don't remember much about that day, Bethany and I had to go to school and then our grandparents picked us up and took us to there home. I am pretty sure we were too young to understand what our parents were going through.  But I do know that after years of treatments and therapies mom was feeling better, she went into remission some years later. My mother is more then a cancer surviver, she is the kindest most giving person I have ever known. When I see how my mother helps others, I hope and pray that I could have the same kind of gentle giving heart that she has.
Dorothy with Bethany and Mom many years ago
My mother had 2 siblings a brother David, and a sister Dorothy. Dorothy pasted away in December 2009 after suffering for years with breast, brain and liver cancer. My mother cared for her as she would a child during the last several months of her life. Dorothy was first diagnosed with breast cancer years earlier and was treated and went into remission. Sadly her breast cancer reappeared several years after. Dorothy wasn't ready to do conventional treatments a second time. So she participated in alternative treatments around the county, unfortunately the treatments did stop the cancer and it spread to her brain, liver and other places around her body. Sometimes it is hard to see past the last several years when she was in so much pain to the times when she was happy and healthy. (That is the reason the picture is so old) But as I child and teen I remember her taking me out for special birthday treats, shopping, and fun little trips.

Everybody deals with pain differently, Dorothy's passing was a very difficult time in my life (and for the rest of my family.) I poured my pain into working at the time but to express myself and to remind myself of where I came from I choose to get a tattoo.
This is why I walk.

Please join our team and help us raise funds for research to save lives in the future.

New Year, New Years Resolution... and Where Have I Been?!??!

So I know that I have been a bit absent from the blog scene for a while. But alas, I have great news, my news years resolution is to be a consistent blogger again, (and to use my Cricut to scrapbook a lot this year, which means I will need to take a lot of pictures.)

I am not going to spend a whole ton of time telling you what I have been up to over the past several months  but I will give you all a quick run down because there have been a lot of changes that I need to share.

Top 10 Things That Have Happened To Distract Me From Blogging:
10. Sadly, I am a football addict and I must admit that this time of year it is pretty tough to keep up with everything else in life and know every stat about the Green Bay Packers. I have been doing my best to keep up.
\9. Christmas... I don't think this bears much explanation, but you should know that my husbands birthday is 12/24 (Christmas Eve) so I have twice as much holiday to prep and shop for.
8. I have been cooking A LOT, in fact I feel like I may have perfected my versions of twice baked potatoes and chicken enchilada soup.
7. RHH celebrations, the RHH has been very busy this year multiple baby showers resulting in multiple babies, lots of dinners out to spend time together, 2 more bridal showers on the way and 2 big weddings in the works..#wowzers

6. Patrick and I carved a ridiculously awesome pumpkin.... be jealous, PS Patrick did way more of the work then me.

5. I had my last day of working at Massanutten. I miss my friends from there a lot. I cried and cried as I was packing my desk. This is what it looked like when I was leaving.
4. I bought a car, if you are a consistent reader, (and God bless you) you know the Saturn I had been driving had been on borrowed time for a very long time, Patrick bought me a 2012 Jetta TDI. I love it, my favorite part is the heated seats. (I like it when my butt is hot in the literal sense)
3. My cousin Marley got married, (and it was beautiful) and Patrick and I had so much fun playing in South Florida. She only has about 1,000,000 pictures to pick from to post, and I tried really hard to find one with my cousins and Ted but I was out of luck so sorry Ted. I love this picture though. What a great day!
2. In addition to the wedding craziness, Patrick and I took some time to vacation. We had not had a real vaca in several years and we had so much fun. We hit the beach, went up a lighthouse, met some sea turtles, and spent a lot of time chillaxing (yep I said it)

Drumroll please
1.  I started a new job!!!! This has been a crazy but good change. I will give you all more details in the next couple weeks.

What's on tap for this weekend: heading up north with some RHH buddies to visit their family and celebrate more babies. Going to be a great time, I will be sure to have plenty of pictures of the current babies when I get back.

Bethany Side-Note of the Day: since she still refuses to read. Bethany couldn't make it to Florida this time around because of work....#sadface
