Anniversary

So with all the other wedding madness going on right now it is easy to forget that after the wedding you actually have a life. Patrick and I will have been married for 6 YEARS (tomorrow). I am super excited to spend some time with Patrick and celebrate us.

We had a awesome wedding and we started a great life together. Originally we wanted to get out of town and escape for a little while, unfortunately Patrick is taking a EMT class and they have a mandatory class on Saturday so we can't quite run away but we can still hang out and party to us. Since I have a lot of day tomorrow to hang out while Patrick is in class I have made big plans with the Real Housewives of Harrisonburg... thats right we call ourselves that cause we're cool.  We are heading off to lunch and to You Made It, this sweet place downtown where you paint pottery. Patrick has taken me there several times and to be honest I suck at being creative but I have fun painting. I am sure you will see pics from me and probably from my friends that have blogs (www.heartonhomestead.blogspot.com/ and http://leftonwishingwell.blogspot.com/... check it out.)

Don't get me wrong Patrick and I are still going to take the opportunity to celebrate. We are going to be going out to a fancy dinner and then I am taking Patrick to a movie he can't wait to see... (I could pass on seeing Fast Five, but he loves it so I am willing to watch plus I get some sweet popcorn)

I am so excited for this weekend, I guess the most important thing I have learned about marriage in 6 years is to be patient and kind. Marriage is based on love but more then that (and in a special message I learned from Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky on Full House) marriage is about making both our dreams come true. There are a lot of things I want in life but there are a lot of things he wants so I guess we have to work hard to accomplish them both.

Bethany Side-Note of the Day- I am 2 years and 8 days older then Bethany I like to let her know during those 8 days how much more important I am during those 8 days. I guess this will backfire as I get older.

Royal Fever

I admit it..I have a problem....I HAVE ROYAL FEVER!!!

Don't judge me but the truth of the matter is that I have been obsessed with watching as much royal wedding coverage as possible this week. Also I do actually plan to get up early Friday morning to watch the wedding and I am pretty excited about it. So if you plan on watching the wedding as well tweet me because I will totally be up. I believe there are several reasons for my addiction, these are my current theories.

  • My mother told me my entire childhood that I would marry Prince William. (Her rational: I was born the same year so I was in the appropriate age...turns out she was right lets not tell her.)    Side-note: She told my sister who was born the same year as Prince Harry that she would marry him (not our Bethany fact of the day stay tuned)
  • E Online can't stop talking about it.
  • Even TLC (The Learning Channel) can't stop talking about it.
  • Good Morning America including my weather boyfriend Sam Champion is obsessed with it.
  • I love the idea of pretty dresses and hair it is all very Disney Princess to me.
  • My wedding anniversary is Saturday and I am feeling pretty sentimental about the whole wedding thing. (Pics to come later this week)
I had a beautiful wedding and I am so happy with the way things have turned out for me so far. Maybe I didn't marry the prince of England but in good ol' Rockingham County I will always be Queen of Patrick's double wide. In the end I would never want to be the princess of England, Kate will forever be scrutinized for every thing she ever does and the paparazzi will follow her constantly. I don't envy what she will be put through but I wish the two of them good luck. Marriage has been best thing I ever did and I hope for their sake they actually get to experience it.
Beside I would hate having the paparazzi follow me around again... that hasn't happened to me since my days in a 80 girl rap group... see if you can find me?
Bethany Side-Note of the day: Well Bethany has still yet to respond to my kind invites to read my blog so let me introduce you all to Daisy. She is crazy stupid for a pet but what she has going for her is that she is cute and that Bethany loves her.

My Battle At The Gym

This is my new nemesis. Lets call him Ed, (short for trEaDmill) I met him at the gym... I hate him!

Now I would never consider myself a good gym patron. Lets get honest and count my flaws:
  1. I talk on the phone on the treadmill
  2. I have been known to break out into songs from my Ipod
  3. I will stay on longer just to see how CSI/Law & Order/etc ends
  4. I don't like talking to people there.
I try to be a Gold's Gym regular like 3 times a week. The goal now is to get in awesome shape for summer at the beach with my friends. However the real problem is I have 0 self control when it comes to food. I really like eating yummy food and I could eat as much as possible. In leu of the 0 self controls fact I am trying to clean up what I eat to make it as healthy as possible, limiting my portions, and I have started eating my large meal of the day for lunch. (I hope the people I work with don't think I am a fattie) What I really have to figure out is how to make me want healthy food. (I know how to make it I just don't want to, is that bad.) So a little help is necessary, if you have suggestions please let me know.)

Side-note: I have been attempting to talk up my blog to just about everybody I know and one of the many people I have talked to was my sister. She said that she does like blogs and that she won't read it. So I promised her that I would talk about her daily until she in on board. So with that being said this is Bethany she likes to cheese it up for the camera and until she starts reading my blog regularly and leaving positive comments you will all learn a lot about her.

House Craziness

I have been trying to use this blog as a great excuse to improve my housekeeping skills. I mean that would make sense. Unfortunately when things get really busy at work silly trivial things such as cleaning up the living room and vacuuming tend to fall by the wayside. This is what has been happening this week. Sadly the business of operating a water park during cray-cray spring break isn't likely to get any easier until late next week sometime so I am going to have get serious and set some goals. Because I have good reason to clean this gosh darn house... drum roll please....our real estate agent Ryan Roberts asked us for a promotional reference and would like to take pictures of our house for his new website......WHAT!!!!!

Move In Day
So clearly I am going to have to get it together! There are very few people that actually got a look at the house before we moved in (don't have pictures sad face) but we have done A LOT of work on it, the ink was barely dry on the contracts and Patrick had ripped out the carpet and was prepping for hard wood in the living room. And we have not painted every square inch... but we have done a lot of painting including a all night Thanksgiving painting marathon and a pre housewarming painting session until 3am...(don't think I forgot Megan and Heather painting our bedroom with hours to go before moving in.)

Basically this place has changed a lot. Ryan is going to be thrilled when he sees the "new" place.

Wicked Awesome Wednesday

Wednesdays are my favorite day of the week and with a great reason. Patrick and I both typically have this day off and we try to hang out together and do something fun. Plus he usually takes me out to lunch. :-). Today we no exception. We got up did some cleaning stuff around the house, and headed to town. We needed to pick up some things and I am on a mission for eye make up.

I have always kinda seen myself as a "not to frilly girl" but in the past couple months I have really been trying to look really awesome all the time. This has turned into a bit of a mission for me. So what has changed well I started wearing earrings nearly all the time, I work out a lot, I bought some new cute cloths that are actually age appropriate and now I am going to start trying some real adult make up (not just the play crap that you get at the grocery store) So this is what I have so far.

I bought a Bare Minerals makeup starter kit. (thanks for the tip Jessica) and some legit eye makeup that is hypoallergenic. (Fairly certain that the last time I work eye make up was at my wedding) So excited to give it a try. I think my eyes look good and they don't even itch which is what I was very worried about.

I learned a valuable this week with yesterdays post, don't name your post first and then change your mind about what you want to write about. Oppsie I will be more careful next time. I forgot to change the name. From now on I will double check that before I post.

Couple Appreciation Month

In yesterdays post I promised pictures so here we go. This is Storm and Flower they pretty much dominate our house.

Storm
Baby Flower
Maybe it is because we are not parents, but we are pretty wrapped around our pets. The truth of the matter is I was so excited to get a dog when I graduated college that we brought home Flower, well Flower didn't take too well to Patrick after we got married so he was dying for a pet that would like him so we got Storm the cat. Storm is kinda super  pampered to a sick level. Storm has some weird quarks, she licks the wall when she is hungry in the mornings, she tortures the dog by pushing things off the table on her, and she chews on cords she shouldn't but she is super cute and likes to snuggle, plays fetch and she is truly Patrick's baby.

Flower used to be a outside dog, she has been living in the house for  almost 2 years now, (she used to be outside, so glad she moved inside, I hate thinking about all those nights that she slept outside by herself. sadness sorry puppy) But now things are better for little Flower-Power she actually sleeps in a crate next to our bed now. (Basically a puppy rags to riches tale.) We decided that she needed obedience school and quite frankly she was terrible, but we went with our puppy friend Louie. (Louie did great because he is kinda a suck-up)  She is pretty good around the house but a lot of people would consider her obnoxious and they would be correct, she gets really excited and jumps on you.

PETS ARE FUN.... YOU SHOULD ALL GET ONE!!!

My Version Of Monday

So today is day 2 of blogging and I thought of so many things that I want to blog about now. So needless to say I am pretty excited for things to come. However first things first, today was Megan's birthday which is why this is going up late. I was out celebrating with her (we bought her coffee and shut down Starbuck...clearly a cray-cray evening) So happy birthday to Megan hope you had a great day.

Most people who have jobs or go to school loath Mondays because they have to go back to these mundane places, but since I work in tourism I don't really even get weekends off so it is just another day on that front. One of my jobs however is to do payroll for the whole staff, it is a common fact that this makes me quite grumpy. After 5 years of whining about payroll however I have found the silver lining ... The Broadway channel on Pandora, I love singing along and it kinda drives my boss crazy. I love the fact that I know so many tunes. So that there is my major accomplishment for today.

Can't believe how many followers I already have ....tomorrow I try to post more pics so stay tuned.

MY FIRST POST

So I am brand new at blogging and I am following the trend that my friends have already jumped on. I want to be good and funny on my new blog but I am really worried about my grammar so if you see typos please forgive me and don't judge.

What you should know about me. I am married, and live in Virginia with my husband, dog and cat. We have been married for 6 years (on April 30th, congrats to us) and we just bought our first house this past year. Maybe I will have pictures soon hopefully I will learn that soon. Both of us work like crazy and we are always running around. This is where my housewife skills come into questions, I guess I should be good at all this cooking/cleaning/other household chores skills but unfortunately I am not so I am still learning. If you have any good recipes (healthy please) send them my way.

Thanks for reading, so excited to share my life.
